BBC Takes Control With JLCooper
BBC Newsnight has taken delivery of three JLCooper MCS3S Media Control Stations for connection to its Avid non-linear systems to control source VTs.
The requirement was identified during an ergonomic review because reaching for the tape machines was unwieldy and a source of discomfort. Moving the machines closer to the operator was not an option, as it would involve the editors twisting to insert the tapes.
Chris Collings of Aspen Media said that Newsnight was already familiar with the JLCooper range and the MCS3S was ideal for the requirement with its small footprint, ease of use and no compatibility issue connecting to the Avids. The MCS3S, with the Sony jog shuttle, feels exactly like controlling the front panel of a Sony VTR and allows for small scale and rapid movements directly under the hand. Speed and accuracy under pressure are fundamental to news picture editing - the MCS3S is robust in build and designed for muscle!
The MCS3S also features professional transport buttons for primary motion control operations, plus eighteen buttons for a variety of editing functions that are simple to program with personal settings.
